A MESSAGE FROM THE DEAN
I am so pleased to bring you this annual report illustrating the wonderful progress we have made toward transforming business to tackle the world’s most pressing challenges.
FY22 was our best fundraising year yet—and included the largest gift ever given to Berkeley Haas. Thanks to your record-breaking support, we have new programs that will enhance the reputation and the financial strength of the school, including our change to a four-year undergraduate experience and the Flex cohort for the Evening & Weekend MBA Program. Both programs serve to improve access to Haas for all students far and wide. They will also benefit students from underserved populations.
We also continue to make progress in the areas of innovation, sustainability, and inclusion. Work will soon begin on our Haas Entrepreneurship Hub, advancing our goal to make UC Berkeley and Haas the premier destination for entrepreneurial students. In the area of sustainability, more than 100 MBA students have completed our sustainability certificate, and we just launched an undergraduate minor in sustainable business jointly with the Rausser College of Natural Resources. Our efforts across all programs reflect the growing commitment of our community to fighting climate change. Finally, Haas recently became the nation’s first leading business school to require a course in our full-time MBA program on managing diverse teams.
Just as importantly, I hope you see on these pages how every act and every gift—regardless of size—matters. We show you recent grads who have quickly earned our Berkeley Loyal distinction for their ongoing support, students benefitting from scholarship support, and volunteers spearheading unique events. Your generosity of time and money, especially unrestricted gifts to the Haas Fund, allow us to build momentum around opportunities for the school’s growth, financial aid, alumni engagement, and more.
As one of the nation’s top business schools, I believe we have a responsibility to lead the evolution of business education and to train principled business leaders. Thanks to your support, we are doing just that. I could not be more excited about the future of Berkeley Haas.
With gratitude,
ANN E. HARRISON
