VOLUNTEERS

Volunteers are the lifeblood of our alumni relations program, helping guide the school’s future, encouraging donations, and facilitating connections among our community members.

In June, Elena Gomez, BS 91 (below), a finance executive with over 30 years of experience leading global organizations, was named the new chair of the Haas School Board, which advises the dean on strategic direction. She’s the first woman to serve in the role. Gomez, CFO at Toast, succeeds Jack Russi, BS 82 (below), a national managing partner of corporate development at Deloitte, who recently retired after a 40-year career. Russi served as Haas School Board chair for nine years.

    Chapter of the Year
    Los Angeles

    Awarded for doubling the size of its board through successful recruitment strategies and for spearheading a partnership among Los Angeles alumni groups representing multiple business schools, which led to unique programming and multidisciplinary alumni engagement.

    Corey Cunningham, MBA 20

    As a Haas Alumni Council co-chair, Cunningham helped expand the GOLD (Graduates of the Last Decade) committee and alumni council membership.

  • Freeman Ding

    Volunteer Leadership Recognition
    Freeman Ding, MBA 11

    As the Shanghai Chapter president, Ding developed a dedicated alumni community in China by continuously growing the network through multiple channels, including WeChat and LinkedIn. He also ensured that Chinese admitted students were welcomed into the community, which led to in-person and virtual welcome events across the Pacific Rim.

    Women in Leadership Alumnae (WILA)

    Awarded for building a strong relationship with Haas’ student Women in Leadership club and for planning a successful story salon for the annual WIL Conference. With alumnae board members representing all degree programs, WILA also hosted multiple events focusing on curated networking throughout California.
